Priest rides in on a donkey, [and she’s like] Oh, you came back for me!” The Emmy-winning writer and actor then recounted a story she’s told before, about feeling the character leave her body during her second-to-last stage performance of the original one-woman play, which she first debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, then revived for runs in the West End in London and off-Broadway in New York in 2019. Waller-Bridge, who was determined not to get emotional during the last night, said she started to cry during that show.
