Nanawagan si Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez sa mga awtoridad sa United States na paigtingin pa ang kampanya kontra-hate crimes matapos na ilang Pinoy doon ang nabiktima ng pananakit nang walang dahilan.

Inihayag ito ni Romualdez sa panayam ng Super Radyo dzBB, matapos na dalawang Pinoy ang magkasunod naDahil sa naturang mga insidente, naunang sinabi ni Philippine Consulate General in New York General Elmer Cato, na natatakot na ang ibang Pinoy na maglakad na mag-isa o sumakay sa subways kung saan madalas mangyari ang mga pag-atake sa mga lahing Asyano--kabilang na ang mga Filipino.

Sinabi ng embahador na kapag nakumpirmang hate crimes ang dalawang huling insidente sa mga Pinoy, magpapadala siya ng diplomatic note sa State department para hilingin na magpatupad ng mga bagong hakbang upang paigtingan ang kanilang pagbabantay. Ayon pa kay Romualdez, may kinalaman ang COVID-19 pandemic kaya may mga Amerikano na nakagagawa ng hate crimes dahil marami sa kanila ang nawalan ng trabaho.
