Government Service Insurance System President and CEO Wick Veloso says the initial payment of P100 million is for the urgent rehabilitation of the Manila Central Post Office building.
The Government Service Insurance System has disbursed the initial insurance payout to the Philippine Postal Corp. for the fire incident last May 22 that destroyed the landmark Manila Central Post Office building. Veloso said that GSIS would complete the payment process once the pension fund reviewed the adjuster's report and approved the final payment offer.
Upon receiving the news of the fire, the GSIS sent its adjuster to the site within 24 hours to initiate the insurance claim process and carry out an inspection. Drones were also used to comprehensively survey and assess the damaged structures. In addition to the initial payment, the GSIS donated various office equipment including tables, chairs, laptops and desktop computers to help facilitate the continuity of its essential services.
