The Philippines has successfully set the record for most attended FIBA game with 38,115 fans going all out to watch Gilas Pilipinas' opening game against the Dominican Republic at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Friday, Aug. 25. With the joint effort of the local organizing committee and the government, Filipinos flocked Bulacan to witness the Nationals' campaign against the Dominicans with President Ferdinand"Bongbong" Marcos Jr. also in attendance to support the squad in the basketball showpiece.The Philippines sets the record for most attended FIBA game with 38,115 basketball-crazed Filipinos at the Philippines Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. The gate attendance first peaked at 21,214 at 5:50 p.m.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas also did not lack effort in drumming up support for the Jordan Clarkson-led Gilas. The previous FIBA record is the 32,616-strong crowd that saw the Shaquille O'Neal-led Team USA come away with a 137-91 win over Russia for the World Cup title in 1994.
