The Philippines monitored 1,229 new infections on Saturday, although the active tally went down to 17,123, data from the Department of Health showed.
In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region had the highest number of new infections with 3,666.
It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,262 cases; Western Visayas with 1,543; Central Luzon with 1,298; and Central Visayas with 922. As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 24.5%, with 6,963 occupied and 21,468 vacant beds.A total of 12,843 individuals were tested on Friday, while 334 testing laboratories submitted data. —
