The Philippines logged 1,227 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the nationwide tally to 4,015,266.
This is the third straight day that over 1,000 new coronavirus infections have been monitored in the country.
According to the Health Department, active cases increased to 17,188 from the 16,526 reported on Thursday. The highest number of new COVID-19 infections in the last 14 days was monitored in the National Capital Region with 2,876. It was followed by Region IV-A with 1,654; Region VI with 1,293; Region III with 974; and Region XI with 911. As of Thursday, the bed occupancy rate in the country was 24.4%, with 6,928 occupied and 21,456 vacant beds.
A total of 12,672 individuals were tested for the coronavirus on Thursday, and 340 testing laboratories submitted their results. —
