Brig Gen. Edwin E. Amadar was sworn in as the new Philippine Navy (PN) vice commander on Friday, January 31st. Amadar replaces Vice Adm. Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta, who has been serving as both the Navy chief and acting vice commander. Amadar previously commanded the Fleet-Marine Ready Force and pledged to support the Navy chief's vision and initiatives.

Amadar was sworn into office during an assumption ceremony presided over by PN Flag Officer in Command, Vice Adm. Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta at the Navy headquarters in Manila.

Amadar, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991, previously served as commander of the Fleet-Marine Ready Force before assuming the role of Navy’s second-in-command. “As the alter ego of the Flag Officer In Command, I will complement his vision and initiatives, ensuring the Navy remains a cohesive, mission-driven team,” he said.
