Robbie Fraser wants to repay Clement's faith by stepping in and starring for the first-team this season
It's back-to-school week and for Robbie Fraser, it’s stirring memories of when he was the new kid in class.
“I can actually remember my first day at the club. I used to be quite a nervous, shy boy coming in. I didn't really take to being around the players that much, but I feel I've come out of my shell now. And now I want to kick on from here. “He worked in the academy. So for him to come up and for me to come up with him, it's really nice to have that relationship. There's loads of coaches, Cal MacMaster in the gym, David McCallum, Malky Thompson and when I was younger, Greg Statt and guys like that. So there’s been loads of top coaches.
And last week, he ruled out signing another left-back to plug the gap left by Ridvan Yilmaz’s latest injury lay-off, insisting this was Fraser’s big chance to push Jefte for top-team minutes. “That’s fantastic to hear,” said Fraser, who made just his third senior appearance as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup win over St Johnstone.
“It's a huge step up to this level. I’ve been training with the first-team lads for a while so you do get to come to terms with it more. Getting some minutes on the pitch definitely helps. I feel really good and I feel a part of it now. I don't want to be known as the younger one. I want to try and establish myself in the first team. I'll try and kick on from here.
