The Light Blues striker has had a slow start due to injuries but was the hero last time out against Hearts with a stoppage time winner as he edges closer to full fitness in a major Ibrox boost.
Philippe Clement has been aware of Danilo for YEARS after showing an interest in him during his time in charge at Club Brugge.
Clement has confessed he discussed a possible swoop for the hitman while he was plying his trade at Ajax and he was managing in Belgium. It didn't happen in the end but he is a massive fan of his new Rangers player and he reckons he can still GROW as a player and pick up lots of small details. He believes he is in the perfect environment to do so as he bids to make it four games unbeaten in the dugout under the lights at Dens Park tonight against Dundee.
He's also managed his first Europa League game picking up what could prove to be a massive point on the road in the section after a scoreless draw with Sparta Prague. Jack Butland and a series of defensive blocks and tackles kept the Light Blues alive in the Czech Republic and they went inches away from snatching the points as they grew into the game in the final stages with Danilo hitting the bar and Sam Lammers denied by a top save.
“He was going to leave – in January. We had some talks about that. But finally it did not happen. So I knew him already for a long time. He is someone with potential but who also still needs to learn a lot of the details of what the job is. But he has the potential to grow. And this is a good environment for him.
