Police believe the man and woman are or were once married.
Inside the home, police found furniture flipped over, large amounts of blood and broken glass, WPVI and WCAU reported.
One of the children, WPVI said, took the knife – a 10-inch butcher's knife – away from the man, 33, in order to prevent him from stabbing anyone else in the house. The knife was found on the second floor of the house. In all, there were six children in the home at the time of the Christmas attack, ranging in age from 8 to 16, WPVI reported. All are believed to be related, according to WCAU.
The man sustained cuts to his hands and is being treated before being taken to police headquarters, authorities said.
