Officials with the FBI and Philadelphia District Attorney's Office are expected to announce an arrest in ongoing terrorism investigation.

Investigators allege that the suspect had communicated with Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad , which was designated as a global terrorist group by the United States Government in 2022. The group is also said to be affiliated with Al-Qaida. "Most concerning however, was the evidence that he had access to firearms and had purchased items and materials commonly used in the construction of improvised explosive devices," McGuire said Monday.
"These purchases quickly escalated this case in both threat and priority for our office," McGuire added. "This was now a situation where we believe public safety was at risk."
