The Philadelphia Fire Department is asking people to check their smoke alarms as they check their clocks for Daylight Saving Time.
Lisa Forrest, the president of Club Valiants, showed Action News how she checks her smoke alarm to make sure it works properly.
Executive Captain Derek Bowmer with the Philadelphia Fire Department said now is the time to check the battery on your smoke alarm.The city is just asking for your patience as they make the rounds to come and install them. If you can't wait for the fire department to come and install a smoke alarm, you can find one at a hardware store, where you can also pick up a carbon monoxide detector.
