Philly was on a two-game winning streak before losing its last game to the New York Knicks, 108-97, on Sunday. Prior to that loss, the Sixers beat the San Antonio Spurs 137-125 and the Orlando Magic, 105-94. Standout center Joel Embiid continues to thrive for the crew and he’s averaging 33.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
In the loss against the Knicks on Sunday, Embiid tallied 31 points and 14 rebounds. And five other Philadelphia players were in double-digit figures— Tobias Harris and De’Anthony Melton both scored 14 apiece, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey both had 12, and P.J. Tucker tacked on 10. Boston is the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference and also has the best record in the entire NBA so far this season. The Celtics won their last game on Monday night against the Detroit Pistons whom they beat 111-99.
Jayson Tatum led the team with scoring in the win and finished the evening with a double-double, recording 34 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists— he’s averaging 30.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the season— and behind him was Derrick White with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
