Under these rules, the carbon intensity of gasoline and diesel must be cut annually; for example, the portion of ethanol in gasoline will be increased from 7.5 per cent to 10 per cent. Plus, reducing the carbon intensity of fuel hardly ranks as some sort of Canadian obsession — it’s happening all over the globe — and, importantly, in the United States, our largest trading partner. And the current 7.5 per cent ethanol mandate in Saskatchewan is a provincial rule.
