The five-time major winner didn't mince his words when Jake Owen asked him for a refund the day after a golf match with Tiger Woods.

Phil Mickelson has never been shy to express his opinions and lived up to his reputation when he was confronted by country music star Jake Owen. The latter was incensed at the lack of quality on display at the showdown between Mickelson and Tiger Woods in November.

Luckily for him, he had the chance to demand a refund almost immediately as he and Mickelson both attended Jordan Spieth’s wedding the day after the event. The 37-year-old singer, who was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2012 American Country Awards, then told Mickelson he felt the hype surrounding the match had turned out to be completely unjustified.

Anyone who thought Mickelson might attempt to contest Owen’s version of events or at least dial down his response was left disappointed. After bringing a five-year winless streak to an end in March 2018, Mickelson has started the year on the front foot, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.
