Phased property sale could delay Mobile International Airport expansion

Mobile Airport Authority recently bought public housing property, being sold to them in four phases.

) - The Mobile Airport Authority is one step closer to moving the city’s International airport downtown. They recently bought public housing property, being sold to them in four phases.“We’re excited to get started in the selling of the property to the airport authority,” said Michael Pierce, Executive Director of the Mobile Housing Authority.

“The property is being sold as is, so the Mobile Housing Authority is not doing any of the demolition,” Pierce adds. “The Airport Authority will take care of any demolition once they acquire the property.” This property sale is a key part of the Mobile International Airport terminal project, scheduled for completion in late 2025 or early 2026.
