The House of Representatives' Constitutional convention (con-con) appointing committee should include the President, Vice President, Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice, Senate President, and House Speaker.
The country’s sitting President, Vice President, Supreme Court Chief Justice, Senate President, and House Speaker–essentially, the top five officials of the land–should form the appointing committee for a certain number of delegates in the Constitutional convention being pursued by the House of Representatives.
If the proposed law for the con-con is enacted today, then the appointing panel would be composed of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Tapping appointees to a con-con alongside elected delegates was first pitched by retired former Chief Justice Reynato Puno during an earlier hearing of the House Committee on Constitutional Amendments.
