Over two million more doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine arrived on Monday to help boost the country's supply.
The first batch of 1,775,955 doses from the COVAX facility arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport past 4 p.m. and were welcomed by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. and US Chargé d'Affaires Heather Variava.
"This shipment today and one coming tomorrow morning will bring 3.4 million doses of vaccine, additional doses of Pfizer vaccine for the Philippines. This 3.4 million donation will bring the total donation from the United States, from the American people, to 22 million," said Variava. At the same event, Galvez reported that 7.3 million Filipino children have been vaccinated against the virus.
A second delivery of 976,950 shots arrived on Monday evening, pushing the total to 2,752,905 million doses received for the day. Meanwhile, the government said over 100 million COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered, where more than 56 million were given as first doses.
