PH passes 200-K Covid mark
The Philippines has surpassed the 200,000 coronavirus disease 2019 mark as the Department of Health reported 5,277 new virus cases on Wednesday.Metro Manila continues to log the highest number of cases at 3,157, followed by Laguna, Negros Occidental, Rizal and Cavite.
More than 1.7 million new coronavirus cases and some 39,000 new deaths were recorded last week, representing a five-percent decrease in new Covid-19 cases globally and a 12-percent drop in new deaths compared to a week earlier. Africa has recorded nearly 1.2 million cases and at least 28,000 deaths since the virus arrived on the continent on February 14, according to an Agence France-Presse tally.
