Malacañang on Wednesday said that the dispute in the South China Sea is not the sum total of the Philippines' relationship with China.

Malacañang on Wednesday said that the dispute in the South China Sea is not the sum total of the Philippines’ relationship with China.

“While we are looking at peaceful and diplomatic means to resolve the issues surrounding the West Philippine Sea, these do not make up the sum total of our relations with China,” he said. “As we have said in previous occasions, the Philippine government continues to assert our rights over the disputed areas in the West Philippine Sea in accordance with the 2016 Arbitral Ruling,” he added.

Last month, many of the Southeast Asian pushed for “adherence to the rule of law” in the South China Sea amid the rising tension in the disputed waters despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
