A Pflugerville elementary school teacher has been accused of fracturing a 5-year-old student's fingers, according to an arrest affidavit.
Pflugerville ISD Police Department initiated an investigation after the child's parents reported the injury. The father stated that his son's behavior was abnormal when he returned home from school. When his father asked what was wrong, the child said "Mrs. Merrell broke his fingers."A medical examination at St. David's North Austin Medical Center confirmed the fractures.
CBS Austin showed the Moores the arrest affidavit after Merrell was taken into custody; it was the first time they learned about the details of what happened the day their son was hurt at the hand of his educator.
