, the first film adaptation of Jenny Han's beloved YA book series, old love letters from Lara Jean Song Covey were sent out without her knowing. It was very stressful! But it all worked out because even though she started fake dating Peter, the coolest jock at school, they ended up falling for each other for real.
“Jenny constructed a book trilogy starting with Lara Jean alone in her room, reading romance novels and fantasizing about what it means to be in love, to getting that, and now [in the sequel], dealing with it,” director Michael Fimognari told. “And we still have the little drop in the pond that was created in the first movie, which is these love letters that got sent out, and the ripple of that gets to come back.
He's, of course, referring to John Ambrose, one of the guys Lara Jean grew up with who received a love letter from her. He wasn't super important to the plot of the first movie, but as fans of the books know, his reintroduction to Lara Jean's life instirs up some trouble. One of the images even shows John Ambrose and Lara Jean seemingly about to kiss.as Lara Jean's mischievous younger sister Kitty and John Corbett as their father Dr. Covey.
