It’s backed by grants as well as state and federal funding.

The law firm representing Callstrom confirmed in an email that his contract would not be renewed and he remains on paid leave. Adam Rosenthal, attorney at Sheppard Mullin, provided the following statement on behalf of Callstrom: “While Callstrom might either hire women and/or people of color, Callstrom would later target these employees while giving preferential treatment to white male, non-diverse employees,” the lawsuit alleges.
