Major League Baseball legend Pete Rose has died, according to reports.
Former Reds legend and Cincinnati native Pete Rose , who was known as the "Hit King" for recording the most hits in Major League Baseball , and was banned from the game in 1989 for gambling on it, died.
He hit .303/.375/.409 for his career with the all-time lead in hits, games played , at-bats , and singles . Rose was a 17-time All-Star. Rose applied for reinstatement in 1997 and met with Commissioner Bud Selig in 2002, but Selig never ruled on Rose’s application. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred succeeded Selig in 2015 and rejected Rose’s application.Pete Rose played Major League Baseball for 24 seasons, from 1963-1986, and had more hits, 4,256, than any other player .
