put together their best defensive performance of the year in Sunday's 19-9 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Head coach Pete Carroll said Sunday night that the team had made some schematic changed to try and fix the issues they'd seen over the first five weeks of the season. The changes included asking their defensive linemen to return to a more aggressive technique of crashing gaps instead of reading and reacting at the line of scrimmage.
"That’s a big accomplishment for us. I know you all have been waiting for, ‘Okay, when is something going to happen?’ Well, this was a big step and I’m hoping that we will continue. It’s just one game. The whole world didn’t change for us, but it put us in the right direction," Carroll said. "That was part of the big adjustment that we thought, to make sure that they can utilize their strengths. Really, after assessing it, I think our guys are better in that mode. That is the choice that we made, the decision was one part of the adjustment that we did this week. I thought that the coaches did a great job of recognizing it and the players used good communication to make sense of it and they took full advantage of it.
