, Mexico after he received death threats from an alleged cartel if he chose to perform in the city.

On Wednesday, Peso Pluma’s Doble P Records shared a statement on Instagram revealing that Pluma would no longer be performing in the city “for the safety of everyone involved.” The música Mexicana musician was scheduled to perform at Estadio Caliente on Oct. 14. “Our objective is to protect the fans and the team. For the safety of everyone involved, we’re canceling our show in Tijuana,” the statement read in Spanish. “Thank you to our fans for understanding. We love you.”

Last Thursday, a man allegedly responsible for placing narcomantas, or threatening banners — supposedly on behalf of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación — was arrested in Tijuana, according to the regional prosecutor of Baja California.
