Members of the public are now being invited to have their say on a proposal to create a new national park in Northern Perthshire

Perth and Kinross councillors have unanimously agreed to progress the consultation strategy for its bid to create a new national park in Northern Perthshire.

The new park would sit between the existing Cairngorms National Park and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Potential benefits include: more funding, a greater ability to carry out visitor management and ‘call-in’ powers as a National Park Authority. Crieff Community Council chairman Brian Wilton made a strong case for Crieff being part of the consultation process at Wednesday's meeting.

Council leader Grant Laing agreed to an amendment - tabled by Strathearn councillors Stewart Donaldson and Rhona Brock - to include Crieff in the consultation.
