El Cajon Police shot and killed a person Wednesday after the person allegedly tried to run over officers in the police station's parking lot, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells told NBC 7.

A person tried to run over two officers during a retirement party for one of their police captains, Mayor Bill Wells said. That is when at least one officer opened fire killing the person, Mayor Wells said.One officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest.
