A person was spotted 'lying down near the track' after a model plane crashed close to a train line and 'set fire to the embankment'.
British Transport Police Lancashire officers were left asking 'all sounds odd... what's going on?' following the incident on Sunday afternoon between Kirkham and Wesham and Poulton-le-Fylde. The force said a train driver reported a lineside fire on the route before the next driver spotted 'someone lying down near the track who then gets up'.
As officers attended the scene they were informed that two people had been flying a model plane which had then crashed. This resulted in an embankment fire.BTP Lancashire said the two people 'then go and put the fire out' before trying to 'hide when they see a train approaching'. The pair were escorted off the railway by one of the train drivers.They said: "Between #KirkhamAndWesham and #PoultonLeFylde a train driver reported a lineside fire this afternoon.
"The two people then go and put the fire out, but try to hide when they see a train approaching. Both were escorted off the railway by one of the train drivers."
