Police in Hayward say a person of interest, who fled from police, entered a home that was not theirs on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said negotiators were sent to the scene to try to get the person to come out from the home near Olympic Avenue and Chance Street. KTVU first learned of the situation at around 5 p.m. By 6:30 p.m. Hayward police peacefully took the person into custody.Police said the unidentified person is a person of interest in connection to a shooting and has outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The married couple who live at the home that was surrounded, managed to escape when the person of interest arrived through the garage. They were able to share detailed information with responding officers. Police did not have details to share about the aforementioned shooting. Officer Cassondra Fovel, a Hayward police spokesperson, said the person being pursued was initially on an ATV near the train tracks before he took off running on foot.
