A person was shot and killed by San Francisco police early Thursday outside the BART entrance at the San Francisco International Airport’s International Terminal, officials said.

BART closed the station for at least 45 minutes but train service resumed by 9 a.m., according to BART officials. The primary station entrance there remained closed at 10 a.m., the agency said. In a statement, airport spokesman Doug Yakel said police responded around 7:30 a.m. to the International Terminal in front of the BART entrance after reports of a person armed with a weapon. Police later confirmed the person was armed with two guns, Yakel said.According to Yakel, police officers tried to de-escalate the situation, but the person continued to demonstrate threatening behavior.
