A person has died after being hit by a train between Nottingham and Mansfield
. The incident was reported on the morning of Monday, May 8, but is not being treated as suspicious.
The collision caused disruption to both rail and road travel for the next two hours, with the line between Nottingham and Mansfield being closed off, as well as a road closed near to where the incident took place. British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Nottingham at 5.36am on May 8, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene."The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
"Disruption expected for the next few hours between Nottingham, Mansfield, and Worksop, sadly a person has been hit by a train, please check your journey in advance."
