The potential break in the case comes during the second week in the search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie.
TUCSON , Ariz. - Authorities in Arizona have detained a person of interest in connection to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie .The potential break in the case was one of the latest developments Tuesday to come during the second week in the search for Nancy Guthrie , mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie .
Earlier on Tuesday, federal investigators released images of an armed individual seen tampering with the camera on Nancy Guthrie’s front door. The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department worked with other groups to recover the images and video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s camera because the files were lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors. FBI Director Kash Patel posted the images on X, saying, “The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.” It’s not clear at this time if the person seen in the images shared by the FBI is the same individual who was reportedly detained Tuesday night. Activity with the Bitcoin account associated with a purported ransom note linked to Nancy Guthrie’s abduction was also detected on Tuesday, just hours before confirmation from the sheriff that a person was detained. Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Tucson-area home on Jan. 31. The 84-year-old who suffers from health and mobility issues was reported missing the following day after she failed to show up for church.Video shows armed, masked person at Guthrie's doorHouston County Farm Center gets $6.5 million makeover, set to reopen in March
