Police were called to the scene near the intersection of Pacific Highway South and South Kent Des Moines Road at 7:28 a.m.
When they arrived, the victim was found unconscious in the northbound lanes of Pacific Highway South.
Witnesses told police the pedestrian had been trying to cross Pacific Highway South when a large commercial “semi” or “box truck” made a right turn from South Kent Des Moines Road, hitting the pedestrian. The truck did not stop and continued north on Pacific Highway South.Detectives with the Des Moines Police Department and Washington State Patrol are at the scene investigating.
