GEORGE TOWN: A PAS MP has apologised over a Facebook post that allegedly condemns non-Muslims, saying it was posted by the administrator of his social media account without his knowledge.

Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan said he was sorry over the carelessness that happened, adding that the post was not meant to insult any race.“I apologise for the negligence that happened. The post is not intended to offend any party or any race.“The statement has nothing to do with YB Ustaz Fawwaz and was done without the knowledge of YB.

“It was made by the administrator of the Facebook account duty,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page on Wednesday .Muhammad Fawwaz had, in a post that has since been taken down, allegedly claimed that non-Muslims were working towards bringing down Islam and likening them to infidels. Last week, the Islamic preacher courted controversy when he found issue over the sale of alcohol at a mall in Seberang Jaya.

Muhammad Fawwaz had asked the mall to conceal its beer promotion activity, which was held in conjunction with Chinese New Year, to respect Muslim sensitivities. When contacted by Malay daily Sinar Harian, Muhammad Fawwaz said he hoped that the issue would not be blown out of proportion, reiterating that the mistake was made by a former admin of his social media account.“I request that this matter is not blown out of proportion because this is a mistake that has been explained.
