9 Percy Is Planning To Attend New Rome University For College The Demigod School Is Located In California When The Chalice of the Gods opens, Percy is committed to attending college in California so that he can stay with Annabeth. A meeting with his new guidance counselor, Eudora, reveals that he's expected to go to New Rome University. This is essentially a college for demigods, and it's located in California as well.
It's important to remember why Percy is embarking on new quests before diving into Wrath of the Triple Goddess. After all, this provides the context for Percy's next adventure. He'll be tasked with pet-sitting for Hecate, which sounds easy on paper. However, judging by the 2024 sequel's premise, it will be anything but. Once again, his future will depend on completing a quest — and it could put his life on the line in addition to his college education.
New Rome University will see Percy entering another institution full of demigods like himself, but after that, it sounds like he'll return to a relatively ordinary world. Fortunately, he remains close with Grover and Annabeth, even when they're all in different places. It's refreshing to see Percy and Sally thriving like this, particularly after Sally's unfortunate relationship with Gabe throughout the original Percy Jackson & the Olympian books. 2 Percy Gets Athena's Approval She Helps Him Because Of His Relationship With Annabeth A Greek figure who will almost certainly appear in more Percy Jackson books is Athena, the goddess of wisdom and Annabeth's mother. Percy gets Athena's approval in a strange way in The Chalice of the Gods, as she finds him sneaking into Zeus' brunch under the pastry cart. Rather than giving him up, Athena helps Percy escape Zeus' notice and make contact with Ganymede.
