IPOH: The Perak narcotics criminal investigation department rounded up 211 drug addicts and pushers under ‘Ops Sarang’ on Monday (July 6).

Department chief ACP Lee King Chuan, in a statement on July 7, said Ops Sarang was aimed at arresting addicts and pushers active in several areas here.He added that 209 of those arrested were males, with only two females detained."Twenty-nine were arrested under Section 3 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1985, while the remaining 111 are drug addicts.

“The police managed to seize 337.08g of heroin, 60.34g of syabu, and 37.9 litres of ketum — all worth RM25,267, ” he said. Lee said the success of the raids was due to the close cooperation from the community with the enforcement teams. “The department will continue to curb drug addiction and the smuggling of drugs into the state, ” he added.
