Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League
Pep Guardiola said a third successive defeat would not have shaken his faith that Manchester City can have a good season.
The Treble winners went into Wednesday's game on the back of successive defeats - to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and then Wolves in the Premier League. They dominated the possession from the outset but only had one goal to show for it at half-time and conceded immediately after the break before late goals from substitutes Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku sealed the win.
Guardiola was delighted with the performance of both his starting XI and his substitutes, who he praised for their positive attitude despite not being chosen to start the game. And as they return to Manchester before heading down to North London later in the week for a crunch Premier League game with title rivals Arsenal, City's coach thinks his side will take some beating this season.
"If you think I'm going to doubt my players or what we can do this season [even if] we lose again today, you are wrong," he told TNT Sports. "I rely on these guys unconditionally, winning or not winning, because I know in training the mentality they have. "We will go to Arsenal to do our game. Hopefully we can arrive in March, April, May being there close to the competitions. I have a feeling we will not be an easy opponent to beat."
