Some fans are criticizing her for not capitalizing the G in her 'god's work' ink.
over the years, and this past weekend, she felt it was time to add another to her collection. Like many religious people, Rimes decided to express her faith in permanent ink — a decision you might think those of the same faith would praise. However, when Rimes shared her new tattoo on Instagram, she was met with a number of critical comments.
"It’s God. Not god. FYI," one commenter wrote. "God is spelled with a capital G always. Maybe you should seek Him and He will let you know it is God," another insisted. A third — of many who apparently had a problem with the lowercase G — said, "Why didn’t you capitalize the G in Gods work?...g is totally wrong."
Luckily, just as many commenters showed Rimes support. "God or god - he knows your heart! Have a fabulous day," one wrote. Others were quick to teach the critics some theology and history lessons.
One person even suggested that maybe that's how Rimes writes her capital Gs, ultimately concluding it doesn't matter: "I write my capital g the same way I do a small g and given the loop in the g is higher than the o, to me it is a capital g, but that is of no consequence to her tattoo, because it's her tat, and none of my freaking business how she chooses to spell it or capitalize it or not. GET A LIFE people.
