Millions are missing out on state support that could be worth up to £8,000 a year because they don't think they qualify. Here's how you can claim help towards your gas and electricity bills.
Millions are missing out on crucial state support, often due to the misconception that they don't qualify. Those with low incomes may be eligible for assistance towards their gas and electricity bills through lesser-known energy supplier schemes.
Any single pensioner with an income exceeding £11,343.80 will be excluded. Labour deems them too affluent, reports the Express. Reeves has committed to increasing Pension Credit uptake, but time is limited, and many will miss out. A Pension Credit claim can significantly improve lives. Moreover, it affords assistance with costs related to dental and eye care. "This extra support can be worth up to £8,000 a year, but only if people claim it," remarked Elson.
Depending on the required level of assistance, recipients receive between £72.65 and £108.55 per week, unaffected by income or savings. For individuals providing care for at least 35 hours weekly to someone receiving certain benefits, Carer's Allowance offers £81.90 weekly.
