A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper was shot and killed during a traffic stop Sunday night in West Caln Township.Investigators say the shooter, a 32-year-old Chester County man, turned the gun on himself after shooting the officer.
Investigators say Pennsylvania State Police received a call for an erratic driver near Route 10 and Michael Road just before 8:30 a.m.Corporal Tim O’Connor told dispatchers that he was stopping the vehicle and investigators say that was the last they heard from him.Investigators say Corporal O'Connor approached the stopped vehicle and was fatally shot by the driver seated inside the car.Just after the shooting, investigators say the 32-year-old Chester County man walked a short distance away and fatally shot himself.The shooter has not been publicly identified by State Police or Chester County officials.Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags to be lowered to half staff in memory of Corporal O'Connor. "Tonight, Pennsylvania tragically lost one of our finest when State Police Corporal Tim O’Connor was killed in the line of duty," Shapiro wrote in a Facebook post. "My heart breaks for Tim and Casey’s young daughter and their entire family."
