A new study has found which states are the best for buying starter homes.
which first analyzed data from sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2021 “American Community Survey.” Researchers then calculated home prices, the supply of homes in an area, etc., to see which states had the most attractive market for first-time house hunters.“While conditions are challenging overall for new buyers, some parts of the U.S. are more favorable,” reads the study.
“By these measures, West Virginia is the best state in the country to find a starter home, followed by Oklahoma and Mississippi. At the local level, Southern and Rust Belt cities lead the way.” “But where’s Pennsylvania?” you may ask. The answer to that is the number 24 spot, meaning it’s still among the top half of the list, but nothing remarkable.
However, one beam of light is Pittsburgh, which was crowned the number one overall best city for green homeowners to settle down in, scoring high with the fact that the majority of homes have more than three bedrooms and there’s a high homeownership rate for those under 35 .
