Gone but not forgotten: Korean War soldier declared MIA laid to rest in military funeral
Pennsylvania soldier Army Cpl. Francis Jury was laid to rest in a military funeral service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.Family members say they are grateful.'He's finally home after 73 years. It's a long time,' nephew Sam Jury said. He submitted a DNA sample after North Korea returned remains in 2018. It was a match.
His uncle was declared missing in 1950 following a battle with enemy forces near Chosin Reservoir in North Korea in 1950. Francis Jury was a member of a Heavy Mortar Company, the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was 23. Jury was from Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Family members are relieved to have closure saying, 'There's no more guessing about what happened.' A military funeral honor guard carefully carried the casket for the service.
