First, there’s the money. The U.S. Department of Energy is offering to pay states $7 billion to create a network of hydrogen hubs. DePasquale is helping to lead the bi-partisan charge as co-chair of Energy Future PA. Second, there’s the jobs. DePasquale is convinced the hydrogen hubs would produce a “boatload of clean energy jobs.” Two regions in Pennsylvania are now vying to become hydrogen hubs to produce and store gas, believing they will bring thousands of well-paying jobs to the state. Third, there’s the expected boost to the overall energy economy. Pennsylvania would become a leader in cutting-edge energy production, DePasquale says, stimulating economic development throughout the state.
