The Nittany Lions had the nation's No. 1 2027 class last week. Now, there isn't a single commitment remaining in the Penn State cycle.

Whenever athletic director Pat Kraft chooses his next leader, ripple effects will carry through the assistant coaching staff, the roster and the entire athletic administration. But in the short term, Penn State’s recruiting took a big step back.

It should come as no surprise, as Franklin is the face of the program and heavily involved on the trail. Penn State had the nation’s No. 1 2027 class as recently as last week. Now, there isn’t a single prospect remaining in the cycle for the Nittany Lions.Spell, from McKeesport in Pennsylvania, was the biggest disappointment because he ranks as a five-star and the No. 1 running back in 2027. However, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, asVon Brandt is also a significant blow.
