JB Nelson didn't play at Ohio State while Amin Vanover went down. What are their statuses for this weekend?
James Franklin’s Nittany Lions were undermanned in the trenches due to injuries at Ohio State. Whether or not they’ll be at full strength against Indiana on Saturday remains to be seen.
Franklin said Nelson was “available to play” against Ohio State but only in a pinch. Vega Ioane started in his place and did not rotate out for Nelson at any point in the game. “And even then, depending on how much work he gets during the week, there will be a decision that needs to be made,” Franklin said. “I think a little bit too is how veteran of a player is it, depending on how much practice time they’ve missed and how much football they’ve played. That plays a part, as well.”
At the very least, there’s a good chance Lyons, who had an emphatic sack against Delaware and has impressed both teammates and the staff since enrolling, will see the field this weekend against Indiana.
