Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula has entered the transfer portal after deciding to leave the Nittany Lions program. The news follows reports of Pribula's desire to explore other opportunities, likely due to the return of starter Drew Allar.
After attending Penn State practice on Sunday, he announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal later that day. He was on a visit to UCF on Thursday after visiting Missouri and Iowa earlier in the week, according to reports from both New reports from the pair of recruiting services revealed another wrinkle to Pribula’s upcoming schedule. He’s planning to visit Ole Miss on Friday.
Pribula, who threw for 275 yards and five touchdowns on 36-for-35 passing this season and led a comeback win over Wisconsin this year, has been an important dual-threat piece of Penn State’s offense, rushing 38 times for 242 yards and four scores. Pribula’s entrance into the transfer portal came as a direct result of Allar’s intentions to return to Penn State next season. Assaid this week, Penn State tried to find solutions where Pribula could both enter the portal and stay through the College Football Playoff, but they couldn’t come up with a perfect solution. Such a busy visit schedule within a week of his entrance makes clear why that decision had to be made. “I can give you my word, Beau Pribula did not want to leave our program until the end of the season,” Franklin said. “But the way the portal is, the timing of it, the way our team is playing, and when you play the position of quarterback and there’s only one spot and those spots are filling up, he felt like he was put in a no-win situation, and I agree with him. “... Beau Pribula is a wonderful young man. And I would recruit him every year. Knowing everything I know right now, I would recruit the heck out of Beau. Beau grew up wanting to come to Penn State his whole life. This is his dream school. And he had a phenomenal career here. And I just want everyone to understand that most importantly.
