Minutes after Penn State forced its first turnover of the season, redshirt sophomore linebacker Dom DeLuca scored the defense’s first touchdown of the year.
DeLuca dropped into coverage from his spot at linebacker, drifted to his right, and saw the pass coming from Blue Hens quarterback Zach Marker. He made the easy catch, headed up the right sideline and made one man miss for a 26-yard return touchdown.
DeLuca is a highly respected part of Penn State’s defense as a former walk-on and grinder who consistently finds a way to make an impact. He’s not only on the field for important possessions on defense, but he’s also a special teams captain who has a ton of value in that role. DeLuca made perhaps his most impactful play in this one to help a defense full of second and third-stringers keep Delaware under wraps.
