Penn State said it has added nine new concession vendors at 13 locations in Beaver Stadium.

Starting at Saturday’s home opener, fans will find everything from wings and crab fries to pizza and Philly-style soft pretzels. The Nittany Lions open their season against West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. Penn State announced nine new concessions for the 2023 season, spread out over 13 locations in the stadium. By all accounts, Penn State is stepping up its game and expanding beyond the usual hot dog and nachos stadium fare. “We want a variety. We want to continue to enhance what we’re offering to our fans. A lot of the brands are brands that people around here are accustomed to and know,”“So we’re really trying to lean into that. And we’ll continue to evaluate what we can add and how we can continue to create more offerings for the fans.” Among the newcomers are Caliente Pizza & Draft House, Wing Kitchen, Chickie’s and Pete’s, We Are Inn, Doan’s Bones, Adam and Nancy’s Paninis, Scott’s Roasting, Philly Pretzel and Gluten-Free Stand. Caliente Pizza is recognized in the Pittsburgh market, where it operates seven restaurants and sells pizza in arenas such as Acrisure Stadium, PNC Park and PPG Paints Arena. The brand dates to 2012 and has earned a slew of titles including recognition as three-time World Pizza Champions. At Beaver Stadium, Caliente will sell Sicilian slices of pepperoni and cheese along with a variety of beverages at booths in Stand One on Field Level and Stand 23 of the Concourse Level. “Opening locations in Beaver Stadium presents the perfect opportunity for Caliente to extend its footprint beyond the Pittsburgh region, and appeal to even more demographics and communities, from students to local sports fans and Happy Valley residents,” said Nick Bogacz, owner and founder. On the opposite side of the state, hails Philadelphia-based Chickie’s & Pete’s. It was once voted the No. 1 sports bar in North America and operates concession stands with signature Crabfries at sports arenas and stadiums around the country. Its signature crinkle-cut fries seasoned Old Bay-style and served with a creamy cheese sauce also sell at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. It will operate at two locations in Beaver Stadium on the west and northeast concourses. Besides food, other changes are on tap at the stadium, including new announcers, book store locations selling merchandise and a family-friendly Happy Valley Alley.
