Returning guard Kanye Cleary led the team in scoring
The Mike Rhoades era has officially begun in Happy Valley. The Penn State Nittany Lions dominated the Delaware State Hornets, 79-45, in the team's season opener on Monday night at the Bryce Jordan Center in front of 15,000+ fans in attendance. This was a Penn State team that couldn't have looked any different from a year ago, as the squad was almost wiped out with graduations and transfers following former head coach Michah Shrewsberry's departure to Notre Dame.
, and former North Carolina superstar Puff Johnson.Kanye Clearly, one of the four returning players for the Nittany Lions, led the team in scoring on Monday night, racking up 22 points on 67% shooting, along with seven boards. Sophomore guard Jameel Brown provided the spark off the bench with 20 points, and starting forward Qudus Wahab from Nigeria provided the muscle down low with 13 rebounds.
